In today’s competitive business landscape, it’s more important than ever to have a strong and recognizable brand identity. Your brand is what sets you apart from your competition and is the first thing potential customers will notice about your business.

A strong brand identity can help you attract new customers, build loyalty among existing customers, and increase your overall visibility and reach. Investing in a strong brand strategy is an essential part of growing a successful business.

Creating a strong brand identity starts with having a clear and concise brand message. This message should be reflected in everything from your website and marketing materials to the way you answer the phone and interact with customers. Consistency is key when it comes to your brand identity – customers should know what to expect from your business every time they interact with you.

The second pillar of creating a brand identity is the Design, this is everything from your logo, to your social media banners, to your stationery products, or anything that will have your logo or design on it. and this will require a designer.

Most large companies will reach out to any reputable design firm, and the firm will take care of the branding strategy, message, design, website, merchandise, and more.

However, getting a Brand strategy from any design firm can get expensive quickly, and the price can sometimes be straight up unaffordable for a new startup or business with not a lot of cash laying around for a branding strategy from a quality agency, which costs $3000 on the low end.

There is a growing trend of businesses hiring freelance designers to save on costs. This can be a great way to get quality design work done without having to invest in a full-time designer, however, Finding freelancers that don’t blow the budget can be quite difficult, but that is where Fiverr comes in.

What is Fiverr?

Fiverr is an online marketplace that allows businesses and individuals to find freelance services at an affordable price. Services offered on Fiverr include everything from graphic design and web development to social media marketing and customer service.

Fiverr is a great resource for businesses and individuals who are looking for high-quality services without breaking the bank. With over 3 million services available, there is sure to be something for everyone.

If you’re looking for a freelance service, Fiverr is usually the first freelance marketplace clients look at due to its big list of freelancers, quick output, and most importantly, the pricing.

Fiverr is the cheapest freelance marketplace available as interpreted by their name, most Gigs on Fiverr cost 5 dollars, however, Gigs do also go up to hundreds of dollars, as well as thousands of dollars in Fiverr’s Business Fdreelance Marketplace.

in the normal Fiverr Marketplace, you can find probably any gig that you can think of, some that save money, save time, do a particular task, and some that offer no value at all.

Some of the offered Gigs are:

  • Graphic design/ illustration
  • Digital Marketing
  • Video and Animation
  • Translation and Copywriting
  • Post Production and Music
  • Web Design and Programming
  • Business Management

How Does Fiverr Work?

So how does Fiverr work? Businesses and individuals can sign up and create a profile. They can then browse the services that are available and choose the ones they want to use. Once they’ve found the services they need, they can place an order and pay for them through the Fiverr platform. Once the order is complete, the business or individual will receive the deliverables from the service provider.

Fiverr lets the buyer pick the Gig they want at the price they want, unlike other freelance platforms, which makes the buyer post a service request, and Freelancers will come to the buyer, and the buyer will pick their favorite, though Fiverr does offer posting gig requests as well.

Fiverr Review

Now that we know what Fiverr is, it is time we actually see if the service is worthwhile and if you should try it out for your business.

The Criteria

Most Fiverr reviews come up with a fictional brand name and identity and let the Logo designers have creative control. We wanted to try another approach, using a real business, to really put the freelancers to the test.

Disclaimer: Fiverr sent us the gigs we tested for the purposes of this review, however, they didn’t have a say in the contents of this article, and do not get to read the review before you do. This is our experience with Fiverr’s freelancers, Fiverr’s freelancers range in quality, so your experience may differ.

Picking The Gigs

Before buying the gigs, you have to pick the actual gigs you plan on buying, this is arguably the most important part, since picking bad gigs will lead to getting a bad service.

Fiverr makes picking good Gigs easy since the platform gives you the ability to sift through some of the lower-quality gigs, using the Fiverr Sorting settings.

as you can see at the top of your screen, you have some nice filtering options to sort through the gigs. your sorting options are:

  • Service Options: Service options depend on the type of gig you are buying, for logos, this ranges from the Logo Type (minimalist, calligraphy, hand-drawn, etc.) and what the gig will include (Color Pallete, Typography, Usage Guides, etc.)
  • Seller Details: Seller Details are the Seller Level (which we’ll touch on later) Seller Languages, and their current country of residence.
  • Budget: Sorting by Budget is pretty self-explanatory, you can add a minimum and maximum cost, so you can better gauge what your budget should be, however, you should note that you are sorting between the cheapest tier of each gig, so a gig can only cost 10 dollars for one logo variation, but have a more expensive tier for $50 for 3 logo variations and a brand usage guide.
  • Delivery Time: Finally, you can filter the delivery time of gigs, you can pick between Express 24-hour delivery, Up to 3 Days, Up to 7 Days, or anytime.

You can also filter Gigs to only show Local Freelancers, Freelancers who are currently online on Fiverr right now, and Pro Services, which are the services vetted by Fiverr. Using these filters can ensure you will get a high-rated gig, and you can pick which one you want, based on what they provide.

Another important factor you should consider is the Seller Level, which consists of 4 Levels:

  • No Level: these are usually new sellers with little to no orders delivered.
  • Level 1 Seller: They have been an active seller for at least 60 days, Completed at least 10 orders, Earned at least $400, and Maintained a 4.7-star rating over 60 days
  • Level 2 Seller: Most nice Gigs will be in this level, The Freelances in this level have been active sellers for at least 120 days, Completed at least 50 orders, Earned at least $2,000, and Maintained a 4.7-star rating over 60 days
  • Top Level Seller: The Best Gigs you can buy will be made by sellers in this level, The Freelances in this level have been active sellers for at least 180 days, Completed at least 100 orders, Earned at least $20,000, and Maintained a 4.7-star rating over 60 days

Buying The Gigs

After you have picked your gigs, it is now time to purchase them, I will always suggest buying the highest tier of the Gig since those are always the best value for their cost.

We will test 2 gigs today, a Branding Design Service, and a 3D Intro Animation Intro.

Gig #1: Logo Design

For our First Gig I bought, I decided to purchase this one since it had good reviews, and many great previous logo designs, which you can see below:

As you can see, they have produced some amazing logos before, and while we are not planning on changing our logo anytime soon, I still wanted to go into this as someone looking for a new logo.

I decided to get their most expensive tier, called “Tree” which costs $95 and gives you the following:

  • 5 Logo Concepts with PNGs and JPGs
  • Social Media Banners
  • Stationary Mockups
  • Brand Book and Do’s and Dont’s
  • Color Palette

When purchasing, you’ll have to enter your payment information as well as pay for the gig, since Fiverr holds the money until you accept the delivery of the gig.

After Entering Your Payment information, you’ll be taken to the order requirements page, where you’ll answer some questions asked by the seller, and this varies between sellers.

I had to answer some simple questions like if i had any specific colors I wanted to include in the logo, what type of logo I was looking for, and if I had a website, as well as any special requests I needed.

I provided them with our logo, colors (which they didn’t end up using), website URL, and the description of our website.

I received the order in 3 days, which is frankly really quick for 5 “custom” logo concepts, and here is what i received.

These were the logos I got, and as I suspected, most of these logos had no substance of our actual brand, and seemed like logos you would get if you looked up “Tech Logo Generator”

However there was one that I actually liked, which was the one with the black background, so I decided to accept that one.

Once I accepted the delivery, I was promptly sent the source files of the logo in JPG, PNG, AI, SVG, and PDF.

The rest of the files were then delivered after I accepted the logo delivery within a couple of days, I received the brand book, Iconography, Business card files, Stationary mockups, and Social Media Banners.

As you can see, the package is very inclusive of everything, but something to note, the stationary can’t be black, since writing with blue ink on the black pages will be very hard to see.

as you can see, the social media banners are a different story, since the image feels really out of place, and it is a stock image, not a custom graphic, but what can you expect from a $95 branding kit?

Gig #1 Conclusion

So this is what the Gig provided. personally, I think that the gig aims to provide a lot of value from a low price, which in turn leads to lower quality overall. since regular design studios usually cost hundreds of dollars for their lowest-priced package, and more for their higher-priced packages.

if I had to try this again, I would try to purchase a more expensive gig, but then again, this kind of makes Fiverr’s service obsolete, since Fiverr is known for its low-priced freelance services.

For something important like your branding and logo, i would recommend splurging and going with a pro service from the Fiverr Business Marketplace.

Gig #2: Animation

Our second gig is animation, specifically an intro animation, and while scrolling through the gigs, I found this one which had some good reviews and impressive previous work.

Seller’s Previous Work

However, when I was ordering the Gig I noticed that on the listing the seller required to contact them through Fiverr to first talk about the project to see if they could handle it.

When I contacted the Seller, I asked what he will need for the intro, as well as if he can create an intro similar to the intro on this video, which I really like.

The Seller replied within the same day, telling me that he will need an SVG version of the logo and that he can create an intro similar to the one i sent him.

I sent him the SVG File, which he looked over and then told me to purchase his gig, and he will get to work on the animation.

After purchasing the gig, I was told that the delivery will come in 7 days, but it actually came back within only three days and this was the result:

Gig #2 Conclusion

Upon first impression, I really liked the intro, it was fast, simple, and straight to the point, overall it is a nice intro, although it did have some obnoxious background music, but that can easily be changed.

I didn’t like the idea of having to contact the freelancer before ordering at first, but now I actually appreciate it since it gives me a chance to chat with the freelancer to see if it would be a viable project for them to take on.

Conclusion: is Fiverr Good?

It depends, let me explain. I would consider the cheaper Fiverr gigs good for less creative tasks, like translation, Data Entry, or some types of animation which don’t require a lot of creative control on your part.

However, that doesn’t mean that their more creative services like Logo Design aren’t worth it, since you can splurge onto a more expensive gig and you’ll receive some amazing results.

I should also mention that all these gigs have multiple revisions you can request, so you can better tailor the delivery to your liking.
