Technology is always improving, from smart lights to improvements in electric vehicles, but when is the last time you saw technological innovation in physical games? Because physical games aren’t an area where innovation usually occurs. at least that’s what I thought.
Giiker is a Technology Company that innovates in the physical games field, and gives a taste to old games and puzzles like the Rubiks Cube, Sliding Puzzle, and Connect Four.
This is something new for the physical games industry, as I don’t know of any other companies that innovate in the physical games field as much as they do.
Giiker SUPERCUBE i3SE Smart Cube
Let’s start with this guy. The SUPERCUBE is a smart Bluetooth-connected version of the 1982 Puzzle known as the Rubiks Cube. Learning to solve the cube is a tough task for everyone, and the Giiker cube aims to solve those issues using Technology to teach you every step. I learned how to solve one in 2019, and actively improved my times since then, and if I had that cube back then, I would’ve learned way faster with much fewer mishaps.
Unboxing the cube is a good experience. It comes with the cube, micro-USB cable, and a stand that looks like a torso with arms and legs, as well as Headphones that connect to the battery in the center of the cube.
Connecting the cube to the SUPERCUBE application which is available for IOS and Android is very frictionless, just take off the headphones, and do a couple of turns while the app is open in the connection tab, the cube will beep when the connection is successful.
The Cube itself turns like a speed cube, certainly better than the original puzzle, and if you gave it to someone, they wouldn’t guess that it has any technology in it at all. (given that you take off the headphones, of course)
The App consists of multiple tabs which are, a Tutorial tab that teaches you how to solve the cube through multiple steps, like how the pieces work, and the notation of the cube which is very easy once you understand it.
Another tab is the Game tab which consists of multiple minigames that you can play while refining your skills for the cube, some games require speed, and others require knowledge of how the pieces move around.
One of my favorite games is called Cube Crush, which is like Guitar Hero, with the colors of the cube corresponding with the colors on the screen, it starts out a little slow, but becomes faster and faster as time goes on.
The Last tab is the Battle tab, which lets you play against online users with the SUPERCUBE, you need to learn the notation because you both get the same scramble, and you get 15 seconds of inspection, then start the race!
there is also a couple of buttons at the bottom, like a patterns page and a timer page that lets you measure your speed and reconstruct your solutions.
I would recommend this cube for everyone that has is interested in solving the puzzle, and any speedcubers who want to play against online users, which is great due to the cancellation of most of the World Cube Association Competitions.
Whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned competitor, the Giiker Supercube will be a great addition to your puzzle collection.
Giiker Super Slide Smart Sliding Puzzle
Sliding games have existed for a long time, but it gets repetitive after a while, and most of them are usually low quality. That is until I tried the Giiker Super Slide.
The Super Slide is an innovative version of the decades-old sliding games. The goal of the game is to get the red 2×2 piece to the corresponding area at the bottom. The game comes with over 500+ levels to complete, as well as a mode with a countdown timer.
The Game starts by giving you a design to create on the little screen, you remove all the pieces then create the design and press the red button, and then the game officially starts. Your goal is to slide the pieces around and get the red piece to the bottom.
To start using the countdown timer, just organize the pieces and hold down the right arrow button with the C under it, then the timer starts.
if you are stuck, then you can start the game and hold down the button with the left arrow and the L under it to start the learning mode, where it’ll guide you on how to move the pieces.
The game pieces are magnetic and stay in the handheld console while playing, and snap into place while moving. The handheld console knows when the red piece arrives in the winning place, automatically plays a little animation, and moves on to the next level.
Giiker Smart Four Connected Board Game
Smart Four adds a great twist to the classic, Connect Four, the game is played on a 3-axis board as opposed to Connect Four which operates on a 2-axis playing area.
The game has 3 modes built-in, the first one is a normal head-to-head mode, which requires 2 people and the goal is to reach 4 in a row in any direction in the 3-axis playing field.
To start the game, you need to hold down the center button for about 2 seconds to turn on the playing board, 9 buttons will light up, the bottom left button is the Head-to-Head Mode.
on the left-hand side is the AI mode, which will let you play against the AI built into the board, which has 3 difficulties. when it’s the AI’s turn, a tile will start flashing on the board, and you will place a piece of the opposite color on the specified tile.
The right-hand side has a mode called “Lights Out” The goal is to turn off all the lights on the board, and when you place a piece on the board, that tile and the surrounding four will be toggled.
When playing the game, make sure to press down with the piece so the tile lights up, that’s to make sure the board knows your piece is there, and the integrated referee will know who won.
The game also has an app, which can let you play online against other players, and see a 3D version of the board on the app when you are playing.
