With Facebook’s rebrand to Meta, the future of the Oculus brand was unknown, and for a while, consumers thought the Oculus brand would remain alongside Meta, but that is not the case.

The Meta Rebrand

Meta announced the rebrand from Oculus Quest 2 to Meta Quest 2 back in October of 2021 with a change to the Oculus.com website

The Oculus Rebrand came as part of the larger Facebook to Meta rebrand which was done because the social network was under fire for spreading misinformation and other issues and allegations.

The New Quest 2 Headset

Any new headset purchased in the past few days will look a little different, since it’ll feature the Meta logo on the front of the headset as opposed to old units, which had the Oculus logo on the front panel.

New users have spotted the oculus logo on some small places since the rebrand, the most prominent of which is on the Home Button.

Official Documentation still refers to this button as the “Oculus Button”, though changing it in the near future still seems possible, since Meta has taken their sweet time with this rebrand

Why Did Meta Rebrand The Headset

This has been one of Meta’s goals since the rebrand; Innovating in the Metaverse has been one of their top priorities, and The Oculus Quest is their best option to enable users to hop into the metaverse easily. Still, the Oculus Quest (Now Meta Quest) is the best way to get into VR.
