Sony has been releasing Xperia Phones since June of 2019 as a “no compromise” smartphone, with the latest Xperia model the Sony Experia 1 III having a 5G, 12GB RAM, 6.5″ 4K HDR OLED display with 120Hz, and having a triple camera setup with four focal lengths and Real-time AF tracking, but costs $1,299 which isn’t that expensive for a Flagship (for reference, the iPhone 13 Pro Max costs $1,199, which only has half the RAM.)
However, the Xperia 1 III is about to become an old-gen flagship, since Sony Xperia recently tweeted announcing their upcoming event on May 11 which will feature a new product announcement from Sony’s Xperia line, rumored to be the Xperia 1 IV.
May 11 is also the date of Google I/O, which might feature the announcement of the release of the Pixel 6a and The Pixel Watch (Talk about a busy day!)
Sony has been keeping quiet about the Xperia 1 IV, but given that their latest relase was in April of 2021, a new flagship is expected with newer hardware.
Operating System was one of the reasons some consumers disliked the Xperia 1 III and we are hoping to see better software come with the new Xperia 1 IV
